Discover the Magic of a Manjimup Truffle Hunt
Looking for a unique winter experience during your stay at Clover Cottage Retreat?
Just a short drive from our cottages, Gavin and Mel Booth of Australian Truffle Traders offer one of the Southern Forests' most memorable experiences – a genuine truffle hunt through their beautiful oak and hazelnut orchard.
From June to August each year, visitors can join Gavin, Mel and their highly trained truffle dogs as they search for the prized black truffles hidden beneath the soil. The excitement of watching the dogs at work, following their noses to locate these culinary treasures, is something you'll never forget. Truffle hunt season runs throughout winter, with hunts and tastings available during June, July and August.
This is not just a demonstration – it's a hands-on experience. You'll learn how truffles are grown, discover the fascinating story behind Manjimup's world-renowned truffle industry, and even help uncover fresh truffles from the earth. The incredible aroma released when a truffle is unearthed is part of the magic.
The Booth family are among Australia's most experienced truffle growers and have helped establish Manjimup as one of the world's premier truffle-producing regions.
For guests staying at Clover Cottage Retreat, a truffle hunt is the perfect winter activity. Spend the morning exploring the orchard with the dogs, then return to your cosy cottage, light the fire and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Southern Forests.
