Looks like it will be a perfect Easter weatherwise, down south this year.  There’s always plenty to see and do.  Take time to visit the beautiful National Parks or  visit the rugged coastline in the D’Entrecasteaux National Park. The striking coastline of the Southern Forests stretches across 140 kilometres, where beautiful  karri forests sit atop rocky cliffs, and beautiful white sandy beaches are pounded by the wild Southern Ocean.  Visit the variety of wineries and walktrails

Or  just relax and the theatre of the bush and the quiet.  If you were unable to make your Easter break a country break, Clover Cottage still has a few vacancies available over the school holidays.

Timber in the Southwest

Saturday, January 5th, 2013

Clover Cottage was built in 1875 from jarrah timber that was taken from the property.  It was was  before the time of industrial machinery in the southwest forests and using only hand tools.  Bullocks and horses would have helped with moving the timber.

Check out this fantastic footage about the Timber Industry in the 20s and 30s in the Southwest of Western Australia.

The men did it tough in the old days! .   This historic memorabilia was sourced by a retired forester, Jack Bradshaw, who has written a book about the Timber Industry.  The book is called ‘Jinkers and Whims’ and is available for purchase through this link www.vividpublishing.com.au/jinkersandwhims/.

Hear from our guests

Words cannot describe the magic of your property.  For the first time in a long time I was able to completely relax and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful property.  The cottage is divine and the view is divine.  I fell in love with the donkeys and to have the little wrens share breakfast with us was sheer wonderment.

Thank you so much for providing such a perfect retreat away from the madness of our working life.  there is no doubt we will be back. This place restores your sanity and energy like no other place I have been to.
